Packing for the Trip

General Things to Pack
-Journal and Pen (not necessarily needed but good to have if you want to record the gathering)
-Money for Sunday Offering
-4-6 outfits (it will be hot you will sweat but we also get tons of tee shirts so keep that in mind)
-Comfortable walking shoes (sandals are fine but bring one pair of closed toe shoes for Bourbon st and the work day)
-Pajamas (you will have other people in the room please don't sleep naked)
- Bathing suit/towel
- Warm shirt or a light jacket (it is freezing in the convention center this is a must)
- Any medications prescribed to you that you might need
-Cards or other free time activity stuff (most free time is filled up with more gathering stuff so Monopoly is not needed)
-Hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses ( I know it's a shock but Louisiana is sunny and first degree burns can hurt)

Things to leave at home
Expensive stuff (you don't need to bring the Heart of the Ocean you won't need it), drugs, alcohol, bath salts (use your brain if you could get arrested for having it don't bring it), fire arms, knives, other assorted weapons ( we are neither the sharks nor the jets you don't need a weapon (side note there will be no dance fighting in New Orleans)), glass bottles, laser pointers, air horns, matches, or lighters.

Stuff Needed for the Volunteer Day
-Closed foot shoes ( I think I already mentioned this) (this means it encases the entire foot not just your toes)
-Insect repellent ( we don't know what we are doing till we get there so we might be outside)
-Water bottle ( you will be given one)
-Backpack (ditto)
-Knee length shorts (no booty shorts(Dakota))
-Camera (optional)

Sorry for this giant wall of text post. Thank you for sticking with me. Here's a reward.

Fun Links

Welcome to the St. Marks Youth blog for the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans: Citizens with the Saints. Ephesians 2 v14-20
14 For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us. 15 He has abolished the law with its commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new humanity in place of the two, thus making peace, 16 and might reconcile both groups to God in one body through the cross, thus putting to death that hostility through it. 17 So he came and proclaimed peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near; 18 for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God, 20 built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone
